Anne Cowles and Marilyn Gugliucci win Maine Fitness Award

U-ExCEL Fitness Director Anne Cowles and U-ExCEL Director and Director of Geriatric Education and Research Marilyn Gugliucci, Ph.D., received a 14th Annual Maine Fitness Award, presented by Eric Steele, D.O., a ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµCOM grad, and Ann LePage, First Lady of Maine, on June 6th at the State House Hall of Flags in Augusta.

Cowles’ and Gugliucci’s U-ExCEL Balancing Act, a balance enhancement program designed to improve balance and reduce the threat of falls, won for the Special Populations category.

The Maine Fitness Awards are given each year for a variety of categories by the Governor’s Council on Physical Activity.
